from 25,000 ₽Apartment and land privatization: how it works
Privatization transfers housing or land from state or municipal ownership into private ownership. The right to free housing privatization can be used only once in a lifetime, so it is worth checking beforehand whether a family member has already used it.
What documents are needed to privatize an apartment
- A social tenancy agreement or an occupancy order for the apartment.
- Passports of everyone registered at the address.
- A house register extract and a certificate confirming no prior privatization.
- A technical passport for the property.
Privatizing a land plot
A plot held under an old-style deed, leased from the municipality, or allocated for a household plot can be privatized. The procedure differs from housing privatization — it requires cadastral documents and an application to the administration to approve the plot's boundaries if they were never formally set.
When privatization can be refused
- The housing is condemned or belongs to a specialized fund.
- One of the registered residents has already used their privatization right.
- Not everyone entitled to a share has given consent.
